What exactly is an eLearning job? For the purpose of this discussion, an eLearning job is a job that can be done remotely or totally online. It is a job that does not require the employee to physically commute to work. This can also be known as telecommuting. For most people this may sound like a dream job, and it can be if you play your cards right. I have had an eLearning job since 2004 and I have been doing it as my main source of income since 2007. When I when to college, I did not plan on working from home and using the internet to make money. I went to school to work in law enforcement. I was going to make the world a better place one criminal at a time. With my elearning job I can still make the world a better place by educating and molding minds with my knowledge and experience. There are many ways that you can make a living with an eLearning job. My specific experience is with online teaching. I always knew that I wanted to teach when I was working in the criminal justice field. It seemed to be more of a necessity than a desire. I was not going to get rich working in law enforcement and teaching an couple classes a year at the local community college would help alleviate some of the financial pressures. I am not going to get into my entire story of how I got started teaching online today. Instead, I am going to share with you what an elearning job entails and the steps you need to take to get one (or more) yourself.
My eLearning job is an online teacher. I did not goto school to be an educator nor do I have any formal training in teaching. I am sure that would have come in handy as
I did need to learn how to be a teacher. Today, I make a living teaching classes online for many different colleges and universities. I facilitate classes online and have never met one of my students face to face. I facilitate discussions in a chatroom like forum. I grade papers and provide substanitve feedback. I do everything that a traditional teacher does, just online. I may need to find a different approach to get to where I need to be, but my eLearning job allows me to do that. I can do it all online. I will be sharing more about eLearning jobs. Today, I just wanted to introduce you to eLearning and tell you that you can make a living with eLearning jobs.
